I graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, in December 2023. I have a bachelor's degree in History with a concentration in Public History and a minor in English Writing and Literature. My major advisor was Dr. Jenny Barker-Devine and my minor advisor was Dr. Beth Widmaier Capo.
I have served on the Pike County Historical Society board since 2019. Previously, I served on the New Philadelphia Association board for four years. I have interned and volunteered at Lincoln's New Salem for two years. These and several other opportunities have fed my knowledge and fueled my passion for history.
My first stop after college is to work at the Skinner House in Griggsville, Illinois, where I am caring for their research library and historic house museum. I intend to pursue a master's degree someday soon, but would like to gain work experience first. Thus, I am very open to opportunities.
My main area of interest is 19th and 20th Century United States History, specifically Illinois in the 1820s-30s. I have great enthusiasm for both historic preservation and living history interpretation and would like to pursue a career in a related field where I can be active at historic sites. I am also interested in museums, archives, nonfiction historical writing, creative fiction writing, and post-secondary education.
